Oxon – Bucks AA T & F Championships, 12/13 May, 2018

To all club members – please see this announcement from Oxon AA concerning this year’s Championships being held at Horspath:
“The Championships this year will again be held at Horspath and the final timetable and entry form available in due course. However, athletes and coaches may like to note the following:
Some events (3000m, 5000m and 10000m; Steeple-chases) will not be held at the Championships but will be arranged on other occasions during the summer.
There will be also be some changes in the days on which events occur – the Javelin and Hammer will be on the Saturday, with the Shot and Discus on the Sunday. In addition, the U13 sprint hurdles events will be on the Sunday.
ALL ENTRIES this year will be conducted on-line with payment also being made on-line. The closing date for entries will be 27 April. Late entries will not be accepted.
Each year there are some athletes who fail to include PBs for their events. These are essential for seeding purposes in the sprints and 800m. This has also been a problem where athletes have not previously attempted the event! Athletes and coaches should note that these Championships are NOT the place for the latter.
To aid the smooth running of the programme, we are asking each of the T & F clubs in Oxon to nominate ONE helper for each of the four half days of the championships. This is in addition to the qualified officials they provide. We need this extra help as the two counties do not have enough officials to maintain all the events. We are agreed that these helpers will never be asked to run any event without the support of more senior officials. To achieve this aim, can ALL T&F clubs please let the meeting manager know who is available to help (one named individual for a given half-day) by the 1st May.
