Oxford Seniors off to promising start in first match of 2018

Oxford’s seniors, with a number of young debutants, made a start to their 2018 season and came away with a third place finish at Yeovil, behind the host team and Bournemouth, but ahead of rivals Portsmouth City AC. Oxford began well, with good results in the 400m hurdles races and a win for Daisy Palmer in the women’s 800m. Daisy later came close to completing a fine double with second place in the A string 1500m race. For the women their were wins for Alice Hopkins and Jade O’Dowda in the 100m hurdles, for Alice in the 100m, for Jade in the 200m and for Alice Byles in the 200m B string.Β  Jess Duckett won the B string 1500m. For the men there were wins for Aidan Whiting (pictured right) in the 110m hurdles A string, and Tim Stephens in the 400m H A string, while Gareth Davies triumphed in the B string. Nigel Whiting won the B string pole vault. Other good performances throughout both teams meant Oxford maintained a string of second places during the day, and were able to leave knowing that their season has got off to a decent start.
