Hannah England and Nathan Douglas lead Oxfordshire contingent at British Indoor Championships

SEVEN Oxfordshire athletes will take on some of the country’s biggest talents at this weekend’s British Indoor Championships in Birmingham. The two-day event is the final opportunity to secure selection for next month’s IAAF World Indoor Championships, which are to be held at the same venue. Oxford City’s Hannah England competes in Saturday’s 1,500m heats. The 30-year-old, who narrowly missed out on a qualifying time for the world indoors last week, is targeting not only a place in Sunday’s final, but the standard of 4mins 11secs.

City’s Nathan Douglas is in action on the final day in the triple jump.

The 35-year-old must win the title with an effort of at least 17.05m to be automatically selected for the World Championships.

City trio Jade O’Dowda, Zoe Pollock and Alice Hopkins, who are all coached by Marcia Marriott, compete in Saturday’s 60m hurdles.

Gemma Bridge joins her club mates in the 5,000m walk.
